Version 1.0.1 · Effective 19 May 2026
At a glance
Studia is free. It's a revision planner, not a tutor or grade guarantee. There's no account — your data stays on your device and iCloud. English law governs these terms; Apple's standard App Store clauses also apply.
Studia — Terms of Service
Last updated: 19 May 2026
These are the terms that apply when you use Studia, an iOS / iPadOS revision-planning app made by Syed Khairi (sole trader, United Kingdom). They form a legal agreement between you and us. They're written in plain English because many of our users are teenagers. If anything is unclear, email help@getstudia.app.
By installing or using Studia you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't install or use the app.
1. The short version
- Studia is free.
- It's a planner. It's a tool to help you study — it doesn't guarantee a grade.
- Don't share your iCloud account with anyone you don't trust, because that's where your study data lives.
- Be kind in any text or photo you put into the app.
- We can update the app and these terms. Big changes get flagged.
2. Your licence to use Studia
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Studia on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial study use.
You download the app from Apple's App Store. Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (the "Apple LAEULA") and Apple's Media Services Terms also apply to your use of the app. Where Apple's terms conflict with ours, Apple's terms win on Apple-specific matters (downloads, refunds, account, etc.) and ours win on the rest.
3. What Studia is — and isn't
Studia is a revision planner based on evidence-based study principles (spaced retrieval, retrieval practice, interleaving, deliberate practice). It generates schedules and tracks your progress.
Studia is not:
- A tutor.
- An exam board. We are not affiliated with AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, CCEA or any other exam board. Where we use specification names like "AQA GCSE Biology" we do so descriptively. Always check the current specification with your exam board directly.
- A guarantee of any grade. Lots of factors affect exam results; a planner is only one of them.
- A diagnosis or treatment for any health, learning or wellbeing condition.
4. Your "account" and your data
Studia has no account system. There is no sign-up, no password to lose. Your study data lives on your device and, if you have iCloud signed in, in your private iCloud account.
That means:
- You are responsible for your device passcode and Face ID / Touch ID.
- You are responsible for your iCloud password and two-factor authentication.
- We can't reset, restore or transfer your data — Apple manages all of that.
How we use information is set out in our separate Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or try to break the app's security.
- Use Studia to harass anyone, or upload illegal content as a progress photo or caption.
- Use Studia in a way that breaks any law.
- Pretend to be someone else.
- Try to interfere with our backend or Cloudflare (rate-limit evasion, scraping, DDoS, etc.).
Because there's no account, our day-to-day enforcement options are limited. In serious cases we may ask Apple to take action through the App Store's standard mechanisms.
6. Third-party services
Studia relies on services run by other people. Their terms also apply when you use the relevant feature:
- Apple — iCloud / CloudKit, Apple Calendar, Apple Push Notification service, Family Controls / Screen Time, Live Activities. See Apple's terms and Apple's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — sits in front of our backend as a CDN and reverse proxy. Cloudflare sees the IP address and request path of every curriculum fetch. See Cloudflare's terms and privacy policy.
- Our own backend at
studia.mrkhairi.com— run by us under the same Privacy Policy.
We're not responsible for outages or changes in any of those services, though we'll do our best to keep the app working when they happen.
7. In-app purchases and subscriptions
Studia is currently free with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. If we add paid features in future we'll update these terms and the Privacy Policy first, and you'll be able to keep using whatever's free.
8. Intellectual property
- The app — code, design, brand, original content, original curriculum write-ups — is owned by Syed Khairi.
- Specification names ("AQA GCSE Biology", "OCR A-level Chemistry", etc.) belong to their respective exam boards. We use them descriptively under fair dealing.
- The text, photos, reflections and captions you put into the app remain yours. We don't claim any licence to them because we don't process them on our servers — they live on your device and in your own iCloud.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". Whilst we work hard to make Studia accurate and reliable, we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that the curriculum content perfectly matches the latest exam board specification. Always cross-check with your exam board.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- Anything else that can't be excluded under UK law (including your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015).
Subject to that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to Studia is limited to £20 (or your local currency equivalent), because the app is free.
If you're a consumer outside England and Wales, your mandatory local consumer protection rights are not affected by these terms.
10. Changes and ending the agreement
- Updates. We can update the app, the curriculum and these terms. For material changes to the terms we'll flag them in-app and update the Last updated date at the top. Continued use after that counts as accepting the new version.
- Stopping. You can stop using Studia at any time by deleting the app. You can also wipe the iCloud copy from Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Studia → Delete Data.
- Us stopping. We may stop offering Studia, or restrict access in a country, with reasonable notice in the app where practical.
11. Governing law and where to bring a claim
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Claims about these terms or the app can be brought in the courts of England and Wales on a non-exclusive basis.
If you are a consumer based outside England and Wales, mandatory local consumer protection laws still apply, and you may have the right to bring claims in your local courts.
12. Apple's required clauses
These clauses are required by Apple for apps distributed via the App Store. They form part of these terms:
- Acknowledgement. This agreement is between you and Syed Khairi. It is not between you and Apple. Apple is not responsible for Studia or its content.
- Scope of licence. The licence in Section 2 is limited to Apple devices that you own or control, in line with the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms.
- Maintenance and support. Syed Khairi is solely responsible for providing support for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support.
- Warranty. In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (currently zero) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation in relation to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty will be Syed Khairi's responsibility.
- Product claims. Syed Khairi, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app or your use of it, including (a) product liability claims, (b) any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and (c) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
- Intellectual property. In the event of a third-party claim that the app or your use of the app infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Syed Khairi (and not Apple) is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that (a) you are not located in a country that is subject to a US Government embargo, or that has been designated by the US Government as a "terrorist-supporting" country, and (b) you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party beneficiary. You acknowledge that Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement, and that, upon your acceptance of this agreement, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce this agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary.
